FREEDOM
A Collection of sculptures created in response to particular powerful political and social messages - in some small way created in the hope the stories and messages are passed on to future generations - to hold firm to the idea to stand up to hatred and bigotry

FREIHEIT - HOMAGE TO SOPHIE SCHOLL - a German student and anti-Nazi political activist killed aged 21. She wrote “Freiheit”, “Freedom“, on the back of her indictment. The open on top of a pile of torn books - a symbol of education -Education is the answer to hate and bigotry

MOAB - THE FUTILITY OF WAR - A combination of images were going through my mind from the war in Syria to the recent bombing in Afghanistan.MOAB (mother of all bombs). I found this term repulsive - it's as if its a computer game. This is designed to be the impact - a burnt out blackened shell- someones home? Also inspired by The Rock Drill - one of the most powerful sculptures I have had the honour to see.

REFUGEES - Mother and her children cone up against a wall and barbed wire barring them from safety

BASQUIET WAS A GENIUS - Recycled Scrap metalI- Inspired by the artist Jean-Michel Basquiat who transformed the artworld. Basquiat used social commentary in his paintings as a "springboard to deeper truths about the individual",as well as attacks on power structures and systems of racism
